Suspended PDC World Darts star wildly misses doubles in footage of match being probed

A PDC World Darts star suspended over suspicious betting patterns wildly missed doubles during a match under scrutiny.

Prakash Jiwa, Andy Jenkins and Jack Main have all been suspended by the Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) over suspicious betting patterns on matches in the MODUS Super Series. In June 2023, the IBIA (International Betting Integrity Association) reported suspicious betting in the match between Jack Main and Lisa Ashton – though there is no suggestion that Ashton was involved in any way.

The matches involving Jiwa and Jenkins that are under investigation are yet to be confirmed. They are set to be referred to the DRA Disciplinary Committee where a formal hearing will take place.

The match in question involving Jiwa is believed to be against Owen Bates. During that match, the Indian veteran missed doubles by sizeable margins. He was actually closer to missing the board than the outer ring on several occasions.

During another visit, he registered just seven after hitting two treble ones and a single one. Jiwi has qualified for the 2024 World Championship at Alexandra Palace after coming through the Indian qualifying event. It is unclear whether he will still be able to take his place at the tournament, which begins on December 15.

A statement from the DRA read: "The Darts Regulation Authority Chairman Nigel Mawer has taken the decision to suspend Prakash Jiwa, Andy Jenkins and Jack Main from attending or competing in DRA sanctioned events whilst an investigation is conducted into suspicious betting on matched played in the Modus Super Series.

"The Modus Super Series is an independently run series of events. The players have the right to appeal the decision. These are two separate enquiries."

The MODUS Super Series has confirmed they are aware of the allegations and say they will aid in the subsequent investigation.
