TAB Can Accomodate 40 Runner Grand National

For the first time TAB bets can be taken on any one of the 40 carded runners in this Saturday’s Randox Grand National at Aintree, the greatest steeplechase in the world.

Ante-post favourite Coach Rambler heads a 40-strong field for Saturday’s Randox Grand National, while trainer Gordon Elliott has six contenders in the field

The full 40-strong field for Saturday’s highly-anticipated contest has been declared.

Ante-post favourite Coach Rambler heads the field in the £1million showpiece on Merseyside as racegoers gear up for the 175th running of the world’s most famous horse race.

Last year’s winner of the iconic steeplechase Noble Yates is back to defend his title for Emmet Mullins and will be ridden by Sean Bowen after Sam Waley-Cohen’s perfect retirement.

Trainer Gordon Elliott has six contenders in the running, including Delta Work, who has been hotly tipped to shine on the 4m2f Aintree track.

Meanwhile, Willie Mullins has five runners including Gaillard Du Mesnil, Capodanno, Mr Incredible, Carefully Selected and Recite A Prayer in the line up.

Normally if more than 37 horses are carded, all runners numbered 38 and higher are bracketed as Number 37 and TAB operates South African pools on the race.

This will not be the case in Saturday’s 6907m Grand National. No horses will be bracketed and in all bets each horse from Nos 1 to 40 must be treated as an individual runner.

In any bet that includes a horse numbered 31 or higher, call the bet to a teller. The TAB betting form shows only numbers one to 30 and cannot be used.

All Win, Place, Exacta and Swinger bets on the Grand National will be commingled with the UK tote with South African Trifecta and Quartet pools.
