Team Tuley's Thoroughbred Takes for races on Saturday 3/4

Horse racing Best Bets for Saturday

It’s a very busy sports betting day, but Team Tuley is also on the case as we look for value at horse racing tracks from coast to coast.

We’re joined by regular contributors Ed Sehon and Duane Colucci, race and sports book manager at the Rampart, as we have plays at Gulfstream Park in Florida, Aqueduct in New York and Santa Anita in California.

Good luck today (and every day)!

Gulfstream Race No. 5 (12:58 p.m. ET/9:58 a.m. PT)

Ed Sehon likes #4 Webslinger (8-1 morning line) in the ungraded Colonel Liam Stakes. “Young gelding looked like a budding rockstar before diving into the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf in November — and drowning. After taking a few months off, he resurfaced three weeks ago with a victory under veteran rider Javier Castellano, who returns. Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse having excellent meet. What’s not to like at a generous price? Wager: Win and box in Exactas with 6 and 9.”

Gulfstream Race No. 7 (1:59 p.m. ET/10:59 a.m. PT)

Duane Colucci likes #6 Weyburn (4-1 morning line). “Nice back class and an easy win last time he ran here at Gulfstream. He returns to Jerkens who had success training him prior. Bet 6 to Win and key 6 over 1,2,7 in Exactas and Trifectas and reverse.”

Gulfstream Race No. 8 (2:39 p.m. ET/11:39 a.m. PT)

Ed Sehon likes #8 Safe Conduct (8-1 morning line) to upset favorite #3 Emmanuel (8-5) in the Grade 3 Canadian Turf Cup. “Trainer Phil Serpe sends out improving son of Bodemeister following lengthy vacation. Works say he’s sitting on excellent effort. Favorite female rider Emma-Jayne Wilson climbs aboard. Wager: Win and bet 3,8/6,9 Daily Double.”

Gulfstream Park Race No. 9 (3:01 p.m. ET/12:01 p.m. PT)

Ed Sehon likes #9 Danse Macabre (10-1 morning line) to spring the upset in Grade 3 Herecomesthebride Stakes. “Consistent 3 year-old filly comes south after disappointing third-place finish in Grade 3 Matron last Fall. Working up storm in the morning. Adam Beschizza retains ride. Wager: 9 to Win and 6,9 in Doubles.”

Aqueduct Race No. 6 (3:25 p.m. ET/12:25 p.m. PT)

Ed Sehon likes #5 Pop Coyer (7-2 morning line). “Hot trainer David Duggan rehires young jockey Jose Gomez, while adding blinkers following transfer from Dick Schosberg barn. Quick break points to wire-to-wire score vs. inexperienced field of cheap state-breds. Wager: Win.”

Gulfstream Park Race No. 10 (3:33 p.m. ET/12:33 p.m. PT)

Dave Tuley likes #9 Nitrous Channel (8-1 morning line) in Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Mile Stakes. “This lightly raced 4-year-old colt should be the speed of the speed (look at those opening fractions) and has a better chance to steal this than his morning-line odds. My main worry is that the public will bet him down with Irad Ortiz Jr. picking up the mount, but hopefully some are deterred from the outside post. Wager: Win (Place only at 5-1 or higher).”

Gulfstream Park Race No. 11 (4:05 p.m. ET/1:05 p.m. PT)

Dave Tuley likes #8 Miss Yearwood (12-1 morning line) in Grade 3 Honey Fox Stakes. “This one-mile turf event should set up for this consistent closer in her 4-year-old debut. Didn’t quite get there in her last race back in September and has right to improve for trainer Ian Wilkes (13% with horses on 90-plus days rest) off the bench. Wager: Win and Place.”

Aqueduct Race No. 8 (4:27 p.m. ET/1:27 p.m. PT)

Duane Colucci likes #3 Runninsonofagun (5-2 morning line) in the Grade 3 Tom Fool Handicap. “This 4-year-old is primed for a monster sprint campaign and has three wins over this course and Kendrick Carmouche back in the saddle. The Feb. 16 work was strong. Bet 3 to Win and Exacta box 2,3, plus key 3 over 2,4,6 in Exactas and Trifectas and reverse.”

Dave Tuley likes #5 Pirate Rick (8-1 morning line). “This 6-year-old gelding will need to put away #2 Chateau to grab the early lead, but if he does he could go wire-to-wire. He’s given up the lead late in his last two races at 7 furlongs, but the cut-back to 6 furlongs helps his chances immensely as he won his last four at the distance. Wager: Win.”

Aqueduct Race No. 9 (4:56 p.m. ET/1:56 p.m. PT)

Ed Sehon likes #11 Slip Mahoney (5-1 morning line) to win Grade 3 Gotham Stakes and punch his Triple Crown ticket. “Sophomore son of the great Arrogate has been competing with several others who are on Road to the Roses. Trevor McCarthy, returning from injury, picks up mount for Brad Cox. Dylan Davis surrenders ride for leg up on #10 Lugan Knight (6-1). Wager: Win and use under 6,7,10,13 in Exactas.”

Santa Anita Race No. 6 (5:27 p.m. ET/2:27 p.m. PT)

Dave Tuley likes #9 Fort Bragg (8-1 morning line) in Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes. “Hopefully this former Bob Baffert trainee flies under the radar, especially invading from Los Alamitos. But this son of Tapit has plenty of speed to get into stalking position and be set for a big stretch run under Juan Hernandez.. Wager: Win (Place only at 5-1 or higher).”

Santa Anita Races No. 9-12 (7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT)

Duane Colucci likes a $.50 Pick 4 (cost $40.50)

Race 9: 1,4,7

Race 10: 1,3,5

Race 11: 3,4,9

Race 12: 5,6,8

Santa Anita Race No. 12 (8:31 p.m. ET/5:31 p.m. PT)

Duane Colucci likes #8 Hopper (8-1 morning line) in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap. “Bob Baffert runner came out running in his 4-year-old debut, has two solid workouts and ‘Money’ Mike [Smith] in the saddle. Key 8 over 5 and 6 in Exactas and Trifectas, plus box 5,6,8. ”
