Martinez was added to the 40-man roster. He will play in Double-A Akron this season. Martinez is 21 years old. Cleveland has six Top 100 prospects.

Rosario will play out the season as the shortstop and Arias and Freeman will be used as utility players. There will then be a competition in spring 2024 to find Giménez's next middle-infield partner.

Cleveland will win the AL Central again. Kenny Lofton will throw the ceremonial first pitch before the first game at Progressive Field. Cleveland and Seattle will meet in the ALCS in a rematch of 1995. The Guardians will be playing in their first World Series in 2023.
