The 2023 Major League Baseball futures: odds and predictions

BetMGM has put up World Series futures for the 2023 season. Los Angeles Dodgers have the shortest odds at 5-1. Houston Astros won the World Championship this season, but they are not the favorites to win a second consecutive championship.

Will another team join Houston and Boston on that list? Can the Astros become the first team in 23 years to win consecutive titles?

The Dodgers have the second-highest payroll ($275.6 million) in 2022. The Dodgers will have to make a decision regarding starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw and shortstop Trea Turner. Houston had the ninth- highest payroll $192.9 million. Most of the Astros' core players remain under contract. Atlanta has a $200 million payroll and they have $159.3 million on the books for next season. The Braves are another team that seems well set up for the future. They have a stable of young players still in their prime.
