2024 World Series Predictions with Betting Odds and Expert Picks
Raise your hand if you predicted the 2023 World Series winner.
Okay, a few of you guys. Respect and congratulations. We can look back and see how some smart people made the case for the Texas Rangers to win the World Series. I don’t think anyone picked that matchup, though.
Unfortunately for the Arizona Diamondbacks, their bite fell short in the Fall Classic. They weren't the only surprise of the 2023 MLB Postseason, though. It appeared the Atlanta Braves were the immovable object, but then the Philadelphia Phillies came along.
It was a massive disappointment. And as a Braves fan, I cushioned the fall by reminding myself that at least we had lost to the best team. That didn't last long.
It feels good to see the Atlanta Braves as the favorite to win the World Series in 2024. However… spoiler alert, I won’t be picking them. A lot of people don’t want to admit the uncomfortable truth that manager Brian Snitker is not the guy for the job.
Maybe he was, but he let his team sleepwalk into the exact same scenario a year later with the bye week and against a red-hot Phillies team.
The bye week proved to be a curse in the 2023 MLB Playoffs. Does that mean we shouldn't pick any projected division winners?

2024 World Series Contenders Betting Odds
Atlanta Braves: +700
The Atlanta Braves had some bad luck with injuries to the starting rotation and the bullpen down the stretch this past season. It's almost like Snitker had the team playing scared of the Phillies. If it were one or two guys who didn't show up in the postseason, we could possibly place the blame there, but it was the entire team.
Los Angeles Dodgers: +800
The Braves were a disappointment, yes, but the LA Dodgers didn't win 1 playoff game in 2023.
With Clayton Kershaw looking like he is on the downward slope of his Hall of Fame career, the team is in search of not just another #1 but a strong #2 starter as well.
That brings us to the Shohei Ohtani sweepstakes. The guy is about to get paid and has been clear that winning is even more important to him.
LA is his most likely destination and where most insiders think he is going, across town. His signing, along with a few other big moves, could put this Dodgers team over the top. They already have two of the three MVP finalists from this year. Now, add in the virtual lock for the 2023 AL MVP.
That brings us to a former LA Dodger and the real MVP of 2023.
Texas Rangers: +800
Yes, Corey Seager is that man. What a finish for the World Series MVP. I like the Texas Rangers next year more than the previous two teams mentioned.
It was just manager Bruce Bochy's first year with the organization.
They are in the position to fine-tune the team, knowing they have the leadership and the culture. I’m not mad at 8 to 1 for the Rangers to go back-to-back.
Houston Astros: +1000
I actually had the Houston Astros beating the Rangers in their ALCS duel. It was a great series, and nobody likes to lose. However, this team is loaded with cheaters. I respected the fact that they all stuck together and defended each other to the death.
I don't like it, though. I think something that egregious should break up a team. Their core is ever so slightly beginning to age, though, at least compared to teams like the Rangers or Orioles.
Philadelphia Phillies: +1100
When I see those two P-words written in succession, I just see red. Not only did they smoke my team out of the playoffs in two consecutive seasons, I then placed a sizable wager on them to win the World Series.
This team has it all, though. They may lose Aaron Nola in free agency, but he looks like he might have lost half a step. Philadelphians can be the best for their team and the worst for opposing players and fans.
There is no playoff atmosphere in baseball like it.
Baltimore Orioles: +1400
Much like the LA Dodgers, the Baltimore Orioles lack stellar starting pitching. Their front office has never been the type to make massive moves and pay stars to come in free agency.
I am not putting my money on it to happen in 2024.
New York Yankees: +1600
Things fell apart in the Big Apple before they could even get started in 2023. We can’t completely count them out, though. If they somehow bring in Ohtani, this number is going to drop.
San Diego Padres: +1800
At least the San Diego Padres didn’t build up the hopes and aspirations of their fans for 162 games only to lay an egg in the postseason. They were a disappointment all year.
The Padres, to me, seemed like a lot of individuals. They are going to need better leadership and culture to win it all.
Arizona Diamondbacks: +2500
Wow, really? The Diamondbacks get no respect. I have to agree. The World Series wasn't that close. They got hot at the right time but couldn't sustain it.
2024 World Series Predictions.
San Diego Padres: +1800
They have the talent. If the Padres can find the right fit at manager, they can win the World Series.
Philadelphia Phillies: +1100
This team shows up, their fans bring it, and they seem to be more of a unit than any other baseball club in the league.
Texas Rangers: +800
I love their manager, the hitting was the best in the AL last season, and their confidence has never been higher.
