The crazy breakdown of reported Al Hilal

Al Hilal have rocked the football world thanks to their unbelievable, world-record bid for PSG star Kylian Mbappe. Even more shocking, however, is the contract that they plan to offer the player to lure him to the Gulf Kingdom…

CBS correspondent James Benge first reported the apparent contract offer to Mbappe. And you may want to sit down for this.

Reports claim that Al Hilal will offer Kylian Mbappe a one-year contract worth €200 million in salary, but commercial rights earnings could carry the final personal deal to €700 million (£605m). Seven. Hundred. Million. Euros. For one year.

Then, once the contract is finished, the World Cup winner can head off to Madrid or wherever he pleases.

To put this into context, this €700 million package would earn Mbappe roughly:

– €58.3m (£50.4m) a month

– €13.5m (£11.6m) a week

– €1.9m (£1.7m) a day

– €80,000 (£69,000) an hour

– €1,332 (£1,154) a minute

– €22 (£19) a second

This astonishing offer would make the 24-year-old the highest-paid player in the world. On top of that, he would likely be in the running for highest-paid sports star, too.

Will Al Hilal be able to pull this Kylian Mbappe transfer off? The fee with PSG may be the easy part, as Les Parisiens have already accepted Al Hilal’s bid. Convincing the star to move to Saudi Arabia could be more difficult, though, especially as he is so early into his career.

Why is Mbappe looking to leave PSG?

Mbappe’s time at Paris Saint-Germain appears certain to come to an end sooner rather than later. Currently, the France superstar’s deal with Les Parisiens runs until 2024. But his unwillingness to sign a new contract with PSG has caused issues.

Earlier this month, club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi issued Kylian Mbappe the ultimatum of signing an extension or leaving this summer. This followed the news in June that PSG’s No.7 would not be picking up his player option to remain in Paris until 2025.

The player-team relationship took a further downward spiral when Mbappe labelled PSG a “divisive” club during an interview.

Recently, the Ligue 1 giants took the drastic step of omitting the star from their pre-season tour squad. Per The Athletic, PSG are even willing to leave Kylian Mbappe on the bench all season if he cannot agree an exit from Le Parc des Princes this summer.

The club believe that the forward is primed to join Real Madrid when his contract expires in 2024. So, why not try and at least recoup some money back for him now?

This is where Al Hilal comes in.

The world record Al Hilal bid for Kylian Mbappe

The Saudi giants formally submitted a bid to PSG for Kylian Mbappe on Monday 24 July. Fabrizio Romano reports that this is a €300m (£259m) bid – which would break the world transfer record.

No European team will surely be able to match this incredibly outlandish bid. And who would want to? By the sounds of it, unless you are Real Madrid, you will likely pay over the odds for a one-year rental.

Despite this, Chelsea, Man United, Spurs, Internazionale, and Barcelona have all enquired about Mbappe since he became available.

The frontrunners are Al Hilal, though; their pockets are the deepest, and the finances of that mind-boggling deal will surely be tempting for Kylian Mbappe.
