The Influence of Sex Appeal
Buckpasser's unraced daughter, Sex Appeal, has made her mark on the breed. Her name is found in the pedigrees of top thoroughbreds, including American Pharoah, Mecca’s Angel and Canford Cliffs.
Sex Appeal is the dam of European champions El Gran Senor and Try My Best. Northern Guest is a former South African champion and a successful breeding success. He is also a well-known local sire. His stallions include Capetown Noir, Pomodoro, Var and Equus Champions In The Fast Lane.
El Gran Senor had fertility problems, but he still made a lot of good breeding decisions. His best offspring were 2000 Guineas winner Rodrigo De Triano, champion sprinter Lit De Justice, and broodmare extraordinaire Toussaud. Chester House did well in a brief spell at stud.
El Gran Senor was his dam's best racehorse and sire. Try My Best's sons, Last Tycoon and Waajib, have had a successful breeding career. Last tycoon headed the General Sires List in Australia and left behind a host of outstanding performers. He sired Gr1 St James Palace Stakes winner Marju, who went on to become a success in Europe. Mar Juju is the broodmare sires of Canford Cliffs, Ramonti and Goldstream.
Waajib's son, Royal Applause, won the Gr2 Queen Anne Stakes under South African rider Michael Roberts. Royal's progeny include Gr1 American Oaks winner Ticker Tape and pattern race winners Finjaan, Please Sing, Whatsthescript and Acclamation.
