Daumier steps-up at Twin Hills Stud

‘It takes ‘speed and guts’ to win the Group 1 Blue Diamond,’ says Twin Hill Stud who this season stand the super-slick juvenile hero Daumier who defeated Jacquinot all three times.

‘In being on the board in the Gr1 Golden Slipper and Gr1 Inglis Sires, this 26 November foal won the Blue Diamond Preview on debut, and the only November foal to win the Blue Diamond.’

‘In being the only 2yo Gr1 winner in this foal crop of 6,450 colts, Daumier is the best 2yo from a tough branch of the Danehill line, from a deep Woodlands family that came to Australia in 1892.’

Raced and bred by Godolphin, he is a highly fancied son of Epaulette, who for Darley won the Black Opal Stakes at two, the Golden Rose Stakes at three and the Doomben 10,000 at four-years.

In shuttling between Darley Australia and Europe for seven seasons, Epaulette had Soqrat win the Greyville Premiers Champion Stakes and Red Lark the Del Mark Oaks amongst 345 winners.

In being the family of Politeness, On the Marbles and Thackeray, Daumier is from the Street Cry mare Illustrate, who is from the Gr2 winning Flight Stakes placed mare Parables, the dam of Marble.

In standing his second season at Twin Hills, its Oliver Tait who says “Peltzer as a glorious looking horse who has quality, strength and scope” and is 16.1hh son of highly fashionable So You Think.

Being by ‘So You Think, Peltzer descends from the Aga Khan family of French Champion Shawanda, from the same High Chaparral line as Gr1 producing sires Dundeel, Toronado and Contributor.’

In ‘blitzing them’ in the Stan Fox Stakes and the $1m Bondi, legendary trainer Gerald Ryan said “I’ve only had four horses break 30s from the 1500m to the 1000m where I clock them from.”

“It’s why I’ll always have a huge opinion of this horse, as first it was Snitzel, then Snitzerland, Rubick and this colt Peltzer, who was as fast as So You Think, gorgeous looking with a great attitude.”

There is no passing that Smart Missile is already as one of our leading sires, and already with 95 race winners this season of 161 races he has Crosshaven and More Prophets as Group winners.

Now the sire of 24 stakes winners, Crosshaven won the Kevin Heffernan Stakes and third in the John Dillon Stakes, while More Prophets won the Dark Jewel Stakes and was twice Group fourth.

‘Consistently in the Top 10 by Winners and in the Top 20 by Stakes Winners and Earnings, and by Fastnet Rock, Smart Missile is higher-rated than his dam’s half-brother Northern Meteor.’

Again, it is the Golden Rose hero Denman who is classed as an ‘exceptional winner-getter’ for already this season has sired 46 winners of 63 races, and is ranked in the top 15 stallions by winners.’

In also being an ‘outstanding source of early maturing stock with the durability to enjoy long, rewarding careers’ its Denman who sired the Hong Kong sprinting super-star Hot King Prawn.

Denman is also now making his mark as a Broodmare Sire, with Casino Seventeen winning the Pinjarra and Autumn Cup’s that has his grandsire Lonhro’s pedigree ‘full of precocious excellence.’

In continuing to make head-lines Hallowed Crowned this year had Vilana win the $1.1m Silver Eagle and $1m The Hunter before closing out with victory in the Hall Mark Stakes for Godolphin.

Currently sitting 10th on the 5th Crop Sire rankings, Hallowed Crown was certainly a top-class miler with wins in the Rosehill Guineas and Golden Rose, and is also sire of Oaks heroine Colette.
