The South African cricket league with Archer, Buttler and IPL influence

The world's newest T20 cricket league gets underway tomorrow in South Africa. Every one of the six franchises is owned by an Indian Premier League team.

The new T20 league in South Africa begins tonight. MI (Mumbai Indians) and Paarl Royals are the first teams to play. IPL-owned teams have incorporated their own identity into the team names. Mike Preston, private equity partner at Cleary Gottlieb, thinks the IPP is a successful business model. Ged Colleypriest, founder of Underdog Sports Marketing, believes the branding of the teams is important. He feels some of The Hundred's branding falls down. The IPT has always seen growth as core to their future proofing mechanisms. It could become a model for others to follow.
