The top 7 storylines in the 2022 DI women's volleyball tournament

The 2022 DI women's volleyball tournament starts on Thursday, Dec. 1. Here are the top seven storylines I am ready to watch play out in the postseason.

Logan Eggleston is the player of the year, but she is also looking for a national title. Texas has all the pieces to win a title, and it feels like this is their year. They are the No. 1 seed in the tournament. Wisconsin had the same problem last year and won the national championship.   The Longhorns have a tough quadrant of bracket, though. It is still possible they make it out. The Wisconsin team had a star player, Dana Rettke, who was looking to end her career with a trophy.

The 2022 DI women's volleyball tournament is a one-team tournament. Last season, Kansas upset Oregon and Creighton and Illinois upset No. 7 Kentucky.

The Toreros are a big question mark for this season's tournament. They were not a top-four seed, but they have the chance to play against Stanford in the regional finals. They haven't played a team in a while. Some think they won't be able to do it, while others think that they are the real deal.

Stanford volleyball team won back-to-back national titles in 2018-19 and 2020. They earned a top-four overall seed and have the best path to Omaha. They fell off the map in 2020, but they surged back into the top 10 this year.

Louisville has been a force to be reckoned with for the past few years. Dani Busboom-Kelly is looking for her first national title as head coach. Wisconsin came close to winning the national championship last season, but they lost some key players. Claire Chaussee is a special player and can lead them to a national champion. Anna DeBeer missed a lot of the season due to injury.

They are trying to win their first Division I volleyball championship. They have to play Nebraska, Busboom-Kelly's alma mater and Wisconsin in the regional finals and national semifinals.

Wisconsin volleyball team is looking to repeat for the national title. Dana Rettke, Sydney Hilley and Lauren Barnes anchored the team last season. This year the Badgers have a new-look team with many new faces and a completely new offensive system.

Ohio State has been eliminated in the last 16 of the tournament twice in a row. Mac Podraza's team wants to win a national championship. They lost four games in their season. Their season is in trouble. They are in Texas' quadrant. If they make it out of this quad, they will have to get through Minnesota and Texas. It is possible they can make the national semifinals.
