Thursday Night Football preview: Dolphins vs. Bengals Week 4
The Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals are playing Thursday Night Football tonight at 8:15 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on Amazon Prime Video and NFL+. The Bengals are wearing all-white uniforms for the first time on Thursday night. The team's ownership has been seen as rigid and not taking chances in their history. The new uniforms unveiled last year have been nice. They would like to throw in the old school uniforms with the “BENGALS” in block lettering over the orange helmet sometime.
Joe Burrow has improved his passing game since the first two weeks of the season. The offensive line didn't hold up well against pass-rushers in the early weeks. There are four new starters on the offensive lines and the team didn’t play well in preseason. Bengals are trying to adapt to the new defensive tactics they are using. They are going to play the Dolphins on Thursday Night Football.
The Bengals offensive line has been a problem for the team in recent years. The line allowed 15 sacks this season and the rushing attack is averaging just 3.3 yards per attempt. Samaje Perine came in for clock drain duty last week against the Jets and his one-cut, north-south style paid dividends. If Miami can stymie Mixon for losses on early downs, it could put the Bengals in a hole.
Cincinnati's defense helped them to the Super Bowl last year. Last week they sacked Joe Flacco four times and recorded nine quarterback hits, 25 pressures, eight passes defensed, and two interceptions. Trey Hendrickson was the AFC Defensive Player of the Week with 2.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. D.J. Reader is out injured and the team needs to find a replacement.
The Bengals are four-point favorites for Thursday night's game against the Dolphins. Colin Cowherd has Cincinnati winning by ten points. The Bengals started the season 1-3 after dropping two games to Pittsburgh and Dallas. The Dolphins are a talented team, but I never like picking road teams on short weeks.
