Tigers vs Phillies Prediction

The Philadelphia Phillies will host  the Detroit Tigers for game three of their interleague set this Tuesday from Citizens Bank Park. Philadelphia scored the lone run in the first inning to take game one, 1-0.

Tigers Betting Preview

Detroit moved to 26-33 after losing to Philadelphia. The Tigers have dropped five straight to open the month of June, and they’ll face another uphill battle in game three. The Detroit offense is scoring 2.72 runs per game, while batting .224, with a .300 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.51 ERA, with a 1.26 WHIP. The Tigers were shut out again last night, and their struggles without leading hitter Riley Greene continue. Zach McKinstry has a hit in seven of the last ten games, and he’s batting .272. Javier Baez holds the team-lead in RBI (27).

Reese Olson (0-1, 3.60 ERA, 6 Ks) will take the mound for Detroit. The rookie pitcher had a solid debut in Chicago against the White Sox, striking out six through five full innings, but suffered the losing decision due to a lack of run support. The Phillies will possibly present a tougher tear for Olson here, but his first career start was a step in the right direction.

Phillies Betting Preview

Philadelphia moved to 29-32 after defeating Detroit. The Phillies have now won four straight games, and they’ll look to bring the brooms out here in the series finale. The Philadelphia offense is scoring 3.87 runs per game, while batting .258, with a .323 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.47 ERA, with a 1.31 WHIP. Nick Castellanos has multiple hits in four of the last six games, and he leads Philly in batting (.319) with 35 RBI. Kyle Schwarber produced the only run in the game two win, and he leads the team in home runs (15), with 33 RBI.

Zach Wheeler (4-3, 3.80 ERA, 53 Ks) will take the bump for Philadelphia. The longtime NL East pitcher enters on the heels of his worst start of the season that saw him allow seven runs to the Nationals in just 3.2 innings pitched, but he somehow dodged the losing decision. Wheeler tossed a season-high twelve strikeouts in eight innings of work in Atlanta prior to the rough start in DC, and he has a good chance to get back on track against a low-octane Detroit lineup.

Detroit vs Philadelphia Trends

Detroit is 31-28 against the spread this season, with a 30-28-1 O/U record. Philadelphia is 24-37 ATS this year, with a 26-31-4 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

Philly has capitalized and taken care of business in this series with Detroit, and I think they complete the mission Wednesday. Zach Wheeler couldn’t ask for a better spot to bounce back in, and with the Tigers sending an inexperienced arm to the mound, the Phillies feel good as favorites to come through here. Back Philadelphia to complete the sweep in game three.
