Tigers vs Royals Prediction

The Detroit Tigers and the Kansas City Royals will meet for game three of their divisional series this Wednesday from Kauffman Stadium. Kansas City responded with a one-run victory, 11-10.

Tigers Betting Preview

Detroit moved to 42-52 after Kansas City. The Tigers’ ten runs wasn’t enough last night, and they’ll look to get back into the win column Wednesday.  The Detroit offense is scoring 2.72 runs per game, while batting .230, with a .300 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.41 ERA, with a 1.26 WHIP. Riley Greene has recorded a hit in eight of his last ten games, and he’s leading the Tigers in batting .299. Spencer Torkelson brings an eight-game hit streak into this contest, and he’s Detroits leading in hits (78), home runs (12), and RBI (46).

Eduardo Rodriguez (5-5, 2.70 ERA, 81 Ks) will take the mound for Detroit. The longtime Boston pitcher opened the second half strong with a win in Seattle, striking out seven in five innings pitched. Rodriguez has allowed more than two runs in nine of his last eleven starts, while clearing seven strikeouts in five of his previous seven outings. Rodriguez pitched well in Kansas City back in May, tossing nine Ks through five innings, while giving up just two earned runs.

Royals Betting Preview

Kansas City comes in at 27-68 after defeating Detroit. The Royals put together one of their better offensive efforts of the season, and they’ll attempt to replicate that here in game three. The Kansas City offense is scoring 3.35 runs per game, while batting .231, with a .295 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 5.29 ERA, with a 1.47 WHIP. Bobby Witt Jr. homered and tripled in the game three win, and he leads KC in hits (95) and RBI (48), with fifteen homers. Salvador Perez had four hits in the game loss to Tampa, and he leads the Royals in home runs (15), with 40 RBI.

Ryan Yarbrough (1-4, 5.29 ERA, 12 Ks) will get the call for Kansas City. The former Tampa pitcher returned to the mound just before the break, and put together his best outing in Cincinnati, holding the Reds to one run over six innings of work to earn his first victory. Yarbrough quickly became a product of the environment in KC, piling up losses immediately, but he’ll look to build on his last outing here in division action.

Detroit vs Kansas City Trends

Detroit is 49-43 against the spread this season, with a 49-40-3 O/U record. Kansas City is 32-62 ATS this year, with a 43-49-2 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

Detroit and Kansas City mirrored a few other squads with a 21-run contest, but I think Eduardo Rodriguez pitches a strong outing for the visitors here. ERod has been pretty reliable this season when it comes to allowing runs, and he should be able to slow KC down after last night’s explosive contest. Back Detroit for game three Wednesday.
