The Minnesota Timberwolves made a statement win on Monday night, beating the Los Angeles Clippers by 21 in Los Angeles to take sole possession of the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. 

Now, the Wolves will look to keep its winning ways going against a much softer opponent – the Portland Trail Blazers – on Tuesday night. 

The first meeting between these teams was a 23-point drubbing by the Wolves, and we could be looking at more of the same with Portland entering this game on a four-game skid. These teams will also face off on Thursday before they head into the All-Star break.

Anthony Edwards: An All-Star this season, Edwards is red hot over his last five games, averaging 28.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game. He wasn’t needed much in the team’s 23-point win over Portland earlier this season, scoring just nine points on 4-of-9 shooting. 

Portland Trail Blazers

Anfernee Simons: With Brogdon out and Henderson questionable, we could get a huge Anfernee Simons game. The young guard is averaging 23.4 points per game this season, and he’s scored 24 or more in four straight. Simons struggled against Minnesota earlier this season, shooting 0-for-10 from the field. 

Minnesota has the No. 1 defense in the NBA this season, and it held the Blazers to just 93 points in the first meeting between these teams. 

While Minnesota has been great this season, the tema hasn’t been able to cover the spread at a high rate as a road favorite, going just 9-10 ATS. 

So, I’m going to look to the UNDER in this game. 

With Brogdon and Sharpe out, the Blazers are down key scoring threats against the No. 1 defense. As I mentioned, Simons was awful the last time these teams played, and while he should be better, I trust the Minnesota defense to slow down the league’s No. 29 offense.
