Timberwolves vs. Spurs prediction and odds for Saturday, April 8 (Take the points?)

The Minnesota Timberwolves have a shot to move out of the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference, but it would take the team winning out and getting some help to jump to the No. 8 spot.

The No. 8 seed is certainly coveted since it would give the Wolves two chances to win one game to make the final playoff field. The team has listed Karl-Anthony Towns as questionable for this game, but it isn’t expected to rest anyone against the San Antonio Spurs.

The Spurs, meanwhile, are sitting everyone imaginable, including Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan, Khem Birch, Doug McDermott and others. Keldon Johnson, the team’s best player, is questionable.

San Antonio beat the Portland Trail Blazers in its last game, and it has been frisky despite sitting most of its young pieces down the stretch of the season. Can the Spurs cover? Or, will Minnesota dominate today?

This could certainly backfire since the Spurs are sitting so many players, but I don’t trust the Wolves to cover 14 points in this game.

Minnesota lost outright (!!) as a 17-point favorite last weekend against the Blazers, and that came with the team playing all of its key players.

The Spurs have either won or lost by fewer than 14 points in four of their last eight games, partially because this group has become accustomed to playing shorthanded.

Maybe Minnesota comes out with a sense or urgency and blows this Spurs team out, but I won’t fall victim to laying a huge number with the Wolves again after that Portland fiasco.
