Tirupati: Youth falling prey to online cricket betting

Sudheer (name changed) is a student of engineering second year in Tirupati. He lost Rs 15 lakh during the just concluded IPL in the city. His parents are prominent leaders from the ruling party. Most of the students who have lost money in cricket betting are criminals.

Many students are falling prey to the cricket betting in the city. Urban SP Venkata Appala Naidu has formed special teams to nab the bookies. He also has special focus on cricket bets during this IPl, T20 and world cup season. He has also formed a special team to get information about cricket betters in city through their sources. A businessman from Tiruppati was forced to pay Rs 2 lakh to a moneylender after his son drained money in betting.
