THERE is just one Premier League scheduled this weekend but what a game that promises to be.

Pike Rovers take on Fairview Rgs in a top of the table clash that is sure to attract big crowds to Crossagalla.

The two sides are locked on 24 points, four points ahead of Ballynanty Rvs in the race for the title.

Pike have played a game less than Sunday’s opponents so it becomes a game that Fairview cannot really afford to lose.

The two sides met a month ago when Fairview recorded an impressive 3-0 win despite laying much of the game with ten men.

Pike will be itching for revenge for that result as they never rose to the occasion in that Munster tie.

Another below par performance will not be accepted by Robbie Williams. He will be buoyed by the return to scoring form by the prolific Steven McGann. Shane Walsh continues to get stronger game by game after his return form injury while Pat Mullins is now bedding into business as usual.

Fairview Rgs have been in fine form, particularly leading goal scorer Conor Ellis.

Shane Duggan and Steven Bradley are another two who rise to the top on big occasions and you can expect the same on Sunday.

With both sets of players so well acquainted, a draw is always a safe bet when these sides meet. Such a result would suit Pike but Fairview will be well aware that they might not get too many chances to make up the deficit if they cannot take full points on Sunday.

Limerick’s hopes of bringing the FAI Youth Cup to town are on the line this weekend when our representatives in the latter stages face some difficult assignments.

Fairview Rgs are at home to Tipperary side Peake Villa while Janesboro welcome Corrib Celtic to Pearse Stadium. Aisling face a long trip to take on Castlebar Celtic

In the Premier A League, leaders Newport face a trip to Lee Estate to take on Athlunkard Villa. Closest rivals Geraldines and Hyde Rgs will be hoping for any slip up.

Geraldines are at home to an Aisling B side who won 5-2 against Moyross last Sunday.

Hyde Rgs are at home to Cappamore while Fairview B will keep apace if they can win at Kilmallock.

Division 1A leading dup of Regional United and Caherdavin Celtic are not in action which gives Summerville Rvs the chance to leapfrog to the top of the table if they can win at Ballylanders. Not such an easy task however as the county side have hit a good run of form.

The Open Cup kicks off this weekend with some exciting ties scheduled.

Croom Utd V Pike Rvs B is a mouth-watering tie while Ballynanty Rvs B host a very good Aisling Annacotty D XI.

Fellow leaders in Division 2B, Nenagh C and Corbally Utd B cross swords while the top two sides in Division 3B and a local derby to boot will bring the crowds to see Geraldines B v Granville Rgs B.
