Premier League Gameweek 18 Predictions

  • Thursday 21st December, 8pm, Sky Sports Main Event

This week's action begins over at Selhurst Park where Crystal Palace tackle Brighton in the M23 derby. Palace are winless in six and have also failed to win any of their last six at home, losing their last four, stretching back to early September. Brighton have also been suffering from a bout of inconsistency, winning only once way in the league since mid-September. Both defences are leaky so we expect a few goals, however, the match outcome points towards a draw.

Michael Bates' Prediction: Crystal Palace 2-2 Brighton

  • Friday 22nd December, 8pm, Sky Sports Main Event

Aston Villa have been sensational at Villa Park this season and have now won 15 consecutive league matches in front of their own fans. This doesn’t bode well for The Blades who are the only side yet to win on the road this season. Improvement has been clear to see since Chris Wilder returned to the club, but ultimately the hosts will have too much for the Premier League’s bottom outfit on Friday and another routine victory could be on the cards.

Anton Eadson's Prediction: Aston Villa 2-0 Sheffield United

  • Saturday 23rd December, 12.30pm, TNT Sports 1

West Ham host Manchester United in Saturday's early kick off and I'll be siding with West Ham to win here. Erik ten Hag's United are completely collapsing with only one win in their last six games.

When we compare this to West Ham their form is the polar opposite. The Hammers have tasted defeat just once in their last nine games and have only lost twice at home this season. Teams seem to have a certain level of confidence when playing Man Utd these days and I don't see a world where West Ham fail to win here.

Steven McQuillan's Prediction: West Ham 3-0 Man United

  • Saturday 23rd December, 5.30pm, Sky Sports Main Event

The undoubted game of the round, and perhaps the game of the season so far, comes from Anfield as second place Liverpool host league leaders Arsenal. After a snoozefest of a 0-0 against a limited but brave Man United last time out here, the Reds will be desperate to beat a definite title rival on home turf.

Arsenal have this season proven themselves to be a more steely side than last year, when they crumbled as the pressure ratcheted up. Unlike the last game here, I see both sides finding the net and am backing the visitors to take all three points in what would be a seismic result.

Billy Grimshaw's Prediction: Liverpool 1-2 Arsenal

  • Sunday 24th December, 1pm, Sky Sports Main Event

Two of the league's more inconsistent sides lock horns at Molineux for the first Premier League Christmas Eve match for 28 years. Wolves have won just one of their last five games but can draw on an impressive six game unbeaten home record, which includes a 2-1 win over Tottenham. The hosts can draw on this form in front of their own fans to edge past Chelsea who have lost their last three on the spin away from Stamford Bridge.

Jack Kitson's Prediction: Wolves 2-1 Chelsea
