Toronto Raptors vs. Orlando Magic Prediction, Preview, and Odds

Free Daily NCAAF Lock Pick, Tuesday November 21st: Bowling Green vs Western Michigan 7:00pm ET

On Tuesday night, the Toronto Raptors head to the Amway Center for a road meeting with the Orlando Magic. The Raptors smoked the Detroit Pistons Sunday evening. The Magic defeated the Indiana Pacers on the road. The tip is at 7:10 PM ET. Orlando opens as a 2.5-point home favorite.

Raptors Destroy the Pistons

The Toronto Raptors led from the opening tip in a 142-113 beatdown of the Detroit Pistons on Sunday evening. Pascal Siakam scored 23 points and Scottie Barnes and Dennis Schroder scored 17. The Raptors broke the franchise record for assists, recording 44 in the win.

“Today was one of those games where the ball was on a string for us,” Toronto center Jakob Poeltl said to Associated Press reporters. “Everybody was sharing the ball, everybody was moving well. You create a lot of easy shots that way.”

Chris Boucher scored 14 points and Precious Achiuwa had 12. Toronto’s previous record for assists in a game was 40, set Nov. 18, 2019 against Charlotte.

According to yahoo.com, the Raptors have dished out 25 or more assists in nine consecutive games, the second-longest streak in team history. Toronto had a 10-game streak of 25 or more assists in January 2020. Gary Trent Jr. came off the bench to score 18 points for the Raptors. Toronto set a season-high for points and led by as many as 40 in recording its fifth straight win over Detroit. They are still struggling from deep, shooting 33.6% on the year, 27th in the NBA.

Magic Earn Big Road Win

Coming into the game as a five-point underdog, the Orlando Magic played an efficient game in a 128-116 win over the Indiana Pacers. Paolo Banchero scored 24 points and Franz Wagner added 19. The Magic scored the game's first 11 points. They had a 42-21 lead after the first quarter and were ahead by as much as 38 in the second quarter. The margin reached 40 in the second half before the Pacers returned in the final minutes with both teams emptying the benches.

“Just come out and hit 'em in the mouth early,” said Magic point guard Jalen Suggs. ”It's like a boxing match. Once you’ve got in their head, that they don't want to get hit, they don't want to play physical, they don't want to play against tough defense ... that's hard to play against, night in and night out."

Six Magic players scored at least 13 points. They have won six of their first nine road games, and after a tough first week of the year facing a gauntlet, they are stringing together some strong performances. Like Toronto, Orlando has struggled from beyond the arc, shooting only 33% on the year, 29th in the NBA.

Rating:

Coming into the game as a five-point underdog, the Orlando Magic jumped out to a huge start in a 128-116 win over the Indiana Pacers. Paolo Banchero scored 24 points and Franz Wagner added 19. They are one of the young, up-and-coming exciting teams coming out of the East. The Raptors led from the opening tip in a 142-113 beatdown of the Detroit Pistons on Sunday evening. Pascal Siakam scored 23 points and Scottie Barnes and Dennis Schroder scored 17. Both clubs are struggling from beyond the arc, near the bottom of the NBA. The edge here lies in Toronto’s ability to hit the glass. They are fifth in offensive rebounding, and the young Magic do not have a suitable center to contain Jacob Poeltl or Scottie Barnes.

Take the Raptors to win on the road.

Prediction: Toronto Raptors ML

Full-Game Total Pick

Rating:

The Raptors are 19th in pace heading into this Eastern Conference battle. Both teams will not crack the top four in the East, but each club has a good chance at making the playoffs in an ultra-competitive conference. They are playing a fresh brand of basketball. According to yahoo.com, the Raptors have dished out 25 or more assists in nine consecutive games, the second-longest streak in team history. I expect them to win this game, and control the tempo. Orlando is favored, and the total is lower than you would anticipate for these two young clubs, but they have both excelled defensively. Both teams are top 10 in defensive rating.
