Tote Ten To Follow Competition: Harry Allwood shares his squad

Racing TV's Harry Allwood shares the horses he has added to his Tote Ten To Follow team as he seeks to win a share of the brilliant prize money on offer, with the winner guaranteed £20,000!

BAAEED

A must for any Tote Ten To Follow team. Baaeed is potentially one of the greats and will prove hard to beat in all the Group Ones he contests this season. The champion miler looked even better than last year on his return to action in the Lockinge and he could improve again when stepped up to ten furlongs.

BAY BRIDGE

Progressed nicely last season but took another big step forward on his return to action in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes where he defeated some high-class rivals with ease. He’s likely to head to the Prince of Wales’s Stakes next, which is a bonus race, and he looks capable of scoring valuable points at the top level this season.

COROEBUS

Won what looked a strong renewal of the 2000 Guineas and is now the odds-on favourite for the St James’s Palace Stakes, one of a number of bonus races that will be on his radar over the coming months.

DESERT CROWN

My idea of the Cazoo Derby winner. His victory in the Dante on just his second start was hugely impressive and, given Sir Michael Stoute’s horses tend to improve with age, there is surely an awful lot more to come. The son of Nathaniel will also have at least two more bonus races among his options should things go to plan in the Derby.

HOMELESS SONGS

It is no surprise to see Dermot Weld’s filly a short-priced favourite for the Coronation Stakes at Epsom following her facile victory in the Irish 1,000 Guineas where she still didn’t look the finished article. That performance signalled she is going to hold strong claims in Group One contests throughout the season, and she could potentially be one of the highest point scorers in the competition.

HURRICANE LANE

Progressed into a high-class performer last season winning three Group Ones, which included two Classics, and his main aim this season will be the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, which is a bonus race. Charlie Appleby has said his four-year-old is set to return in the Hardwicke Stakes en route to Group One targets, and he will be a force to be reckoned with again this year.

NASHWA

The way Nashwa quickened from last to first at Newbury was eye-catching and she looks to hold strong claims in the Cazoo Oaks. She does have plenty of speed, though, and if she fails to stay 1m4f at Epsom, then she may be aimed at the Nassau Stakes thereafter. She certainly looks a Group One performer in the making, though.

PERFECT POWER

One of the leading two-year-old colts last season, Perfect Power failed to see out the trip in the 2000 Guineas and a return to six furlongs in the Commonwealth Cup (a bonus race) is now his target. I expect that will be his optimum trip again this year, and the July Cup, another bonus race, is sure to be on his radar should he go close at Royal Ascot.

STONE AGE

Although I think Desert Crown will prove hard to beat in the Cazoo Derby, Stone Age could contest two of the bonus races in Ireland this season, the Irish Derby and Irish Champion Stakes, so is worth adding to your Tote Ten To Follow team. The son of Galileo has looked a high-class colt this season and beat a useful field in the Derby Trial at Leopardstown last time out plus a step up to 1m4f is sure to suit.

TRUESHAN

The best stayer in training and while he may be ground dependent, he is sure to earn plenty of points in the races he does contest this season, including the Ascot Gold Cup, which is a bonus race. Alan King’s stable star won two Group Ones last season and it will be disappointing if he doesn’t win a couple more this year.
