Tuchel Heads For Classic Mile

Tuchel made his Class 2 debut and won by half a length over Galaxy Witness. He is eligible for the 2023 Four-year-old Classic Series. Tuchel is expected to contest the HK$12 million Hong Kong Classic Mile on 29 January.

Tuchel won the Class 2 Yuen Long Handicap (1400m) at Sha Tin on Sunday, 15 January. Tuchel is a prolific winner with four wins from eight starts. He is eligible for the 2023 Four-year-old Classic Series.

Purton is satisfied with the performance of his player.

Purton has three wins aboard Tuchel now. Fast Buck surged clear to claim the first section of the Class 4 Nam Sang Wai Handicap (1400m). Packing Treadmill will partner Purton in the HK$48 million series. The win was the second of a double for Purtons and Size.

Alexis Badel won his first race since November. Dennis Yip-trained Fighting Star won the Hung Shui Kiu Handicap. We Are Hero won a class 3 Pok Oi Cup Handiap for Hugh Bowman and trainer Manfred Man. Jamie Richards moved to 10 wins this season after Asian One broke through under Silvestre de Sousa in the Class 5 Kam Tin Handichap (1400m). Daring Pursuit won in first section of the class 4 Lam Tei Handiciap under Vincent Ho. D Star staved off a late challenge from Joyful Genius to land the second section in Class 4 Nam Sang Wai Handicheap, also under Tony Cruz.

Tuchel and Badel are going for Classic Mile.

He won the 1000m race two starts ago. Bowman says he's found his niche over the distance.

Tuchel heads for Classic Mile this Wednesday. Hong Kong racing continues this week with an eight-race fixture at Happy Valley.
