Ryan Moore to ride Wellington in the Hong Kong Sprint after speedster has ‘a good week’

Ryan Moore will ride Wellington in the Group One Hong Kong Sprint next month. Moore took out Sunday's Group 1 Japan Cup (2,400m) aboard Vela Azul. Wellington had a disappointing finish in a Jockey Club Sprint on November 20. He has had 'a good week' and is on track for the international races. Silvestre de Sousa will keep the ride for Wellington. Moore is expected to partner Japanese raider Salios in Hongkong Mile and Aidan O'Brien in Hong Kong Cup and Hong kong Vase.

Keefy won the Class One Chevalier Cup (1,600m) at Sha Tin on Sunday. Frankie Lor Fu-chuen has always been confident Keefi will prove his leading Classic Series hope. Keefery will enter January’s Classic Mile as one of the highest-rated contenders. Derek Leung Ka-chun also won a dirt contest on Fiery Diamond in the other dirt race. Youthful Deal won in a Class Four Chevrolet Car Dealership Handicap ( 1,200m). Trainer Leeng moved to 19 winners for the season and into top spot in premiership race, one clear of previous leader Tony Cruz.

Ryan Moore will ride Wellington in the Hong Kong Sprint. Benno Yung Tin-pang has won six of the 23 races on Sha Tin’s inner track so far in 2022-23.

Hugh Bowman has won two Hong Kong races in three meetings. He took down $1.8 chance Baby Crystal in the Class Four Chevalier Aluminium Engineering Handicap (1,000m) and won the class Three Chevrolet Environmental Engineering. Handiap 1,200m saw the biggest boilover since Golden Sixty’s loss as a $ 1.05 chance in January”s Stewards“ Cup. Bowman saluted aboard Solar Winds at $16 as $2 hotshot Superb Capitalist faded to finish fifth.
