Tyler’s Take: Week 1 College Football Betting Preview

This weekend there are a lot of college football games. This week's games are in the NFL, the NBA and the NHL. The college games started this weekend. It's the return of the weekly betting column. TCU is a 15.5-point favorite against Colorado. TCU hired Sonny Dykes as head coach and hired defensive coordinator Joe Gillespie. Colorado hired Karl Dorrell and replaced almost all of his offensive assistants after ranking 129th in total offense last season. The Buffs lost 22 players in the off-season. PJ Fleck decided to move on from offensive coordinator Mike Sanford Jr. after two years at Minnesota.

Georgia State is a favorite at home against South Carolina. The Panthers went 7-1 last season under quarterback Darren Grainger. South Carolin's offense is much improved with the addition of Spencer Rattler. Georgia State's defensive front set a school record for sacks last year. Georgia's team is very battle-tested and they have played plenty of football. They traveled to Auburn and North Carolina in 2021 and 2019. Tyler likes this spot for them. He thinks they might even put a sprinkle on an upset.

Utah is a two-touchdown favorite against Florida. Florida returns very little on offense. Anthony Richardson is the only quarterback for Florida and he's not as good as he seems. West Virginia and Pitt are going to play new offenses this season. Troy was a top 25 defense last year and they return most of their key pieces. Ole Miss lost a lot of players from last season and their quarterback Matt Corrall. Houston is a big favorite against UTSA.
