UFC 294: Fight times, betting odds and everything else you need to know for Islam Makhachev vs. Alexander Volkanovski 2

Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev will defend his title on Saturday in the main event of UFC 294 in a rematch against featherweight king Alexander Volkanovski.

Their anticipated showdown tops the main fight card at UFC 294, which begins at 2pm ET (7pm Irish time) from Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.

What you need to know about UFC 294

Makhachev was originally scheduled to defend his title at UFC 294 in a rematch against former champion Charles Oliveira, but the Brazilian fighter suffered a nasty cut during training camp and unfortunately had to withdraw from the bout.

Volkanovski agreed to step in on short notice, much to the delight of UFC fans around the world, providing a sequel to their February meeting at UFC 284 that saw Makhachev win a close but unanimous decision.

The co-main event features a middleweight title eliminator between former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and surging prospect Khamzat Chimaev.

Khamzat Chimaev was last seen in the UFC when he came in overweight when he was supposed to fight Nate Diaz.

After missing the cut, he instead fought Kevin Holland where he submitted his opponent in the first round in one of the most impressive dominations seen in the UFC for a long time.

Kamara, who is the former champion, suffered a recent defeat to Leon Edwards in UFC 286 and the man named the Nigerian Nightmare will hope to install himself again as one of the best in the business by defeating highly touted prospect and the future of the UFC Khamzat Chimaev.

It's a potential banger in the middleweight division between the undefeated, one-eyed debutant "Bullet" Sharabutdin Magomedov and powerful Brazilian striker Bruno Silva. This will be an excellent fight to kickstart the card as both fighters will be looking to make big impressions at the event.

Silva, who has fought Alex Pereira during his 32 fight career in the UFC, will look to put a stop to the hype that is currently surrounding Magomedov Magomedov.

The one-eyed fighter born in Dagestan has looked ultra impressive in his previous bouts. The fighter had his eye removed after it was badly injured in a training camp in Thailand.
