USA will play Iran in their last group-stage match of Qatar’s 2022 FIFA World Cup. If they draw, the US is out and Iran would advance unless Wales beats England by four goals. The pressure is on the USA team to get a multiple-goal lead to secure the win.

The United States Soccer Federation changed the flag of Iran for 24 hours to show support for the women in Iran fighting for basic human rights. The move infuriated the Iranian government. Iran's state media called on FIFA to kick the US team out of the World Cup immediately and suspend them for 10 games. FIFA is not going to take any action.

The US State Department did not coordinate with the USSF on its actions. There have been months of protest in Iran after the “Morality Police’ allegedly murdered Mahsa Amini for wearing her hijab too loosely.

Gregg Berhalter's team needs to win to move on. Their 1-1 draw with Wales represents the only US goal in the tournament. Iran scored four goals in this tournament and it will take a lot to send them home.
