VGK is coming off a 7-0 dismantling of the Colorado Avalanche Saturday. The Knights are the only unbeaten (in regulation) team left standing. C Jack Eichel, RW Mark Stone and C William Karlsson each had 2 goals against the Avs.

The Ducks have won 5 in a row, capped off by a 4-3 overtime winner against the Arizona Coyotes Wednesday. RW Troy Terry completed the hat trick with just over 90 seconds to go in the extra frame. C Mason McTavish leads them with 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists).

Golden Knights at Ducks projected goalies

Logan Thompson (5-0-0, 2.17 GAA, .932 SV%) vs. John Gibson (1-3-0, 2.82 GAA, .902 SV%)

Thompson held the Winnipeg Jets to 2 goals on 31 shots Thursday night. He has been steady between the pipes, not allowing more than 3 goals in any start. He faced Anaheim once last year and shut them out, stopping all 51 shots that came his way.

Gibson left his last start Monday with an upper-body injury. He’s listed as day-to-day, and if he can’t go, it’ll be Lukas Dostal, who stopped 32 of 35 Saturday against Winnipeg. Gibson has allowed 3 goals in 3 of his 4 starts before exiting early in his last one.

Golden Knights at Ducks picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 5, Ducks 4

I’m not ready to ring the upset alert, but Vegas is playing on consecutive nights and just beat down one of the best teams in the league. It’s very possible they come out sluggish and overconfident, and a young team like the Ducks, who have won 5 in a row, could take advantage.

AVOID and look to the puck line.

The Ducks are 8-2 on the puck line and 3-1 at home thus far. Vegas is 7-5 and 3-1 on the road. The last 3 times these teams met in Anaheim, it has come down to a single goal, and the Ducks won 2 of those.

I’ll take the DUCKS +1.5 (-165).

The Golden Knights are 6-4 O/U in the last 10, and Anaheim is 5-5. The Under has connected in 3 of the last 4 meetings. I look for a fast-paced game that might require overtime.
