Victor Lindelof is struggling to break into the Manchester United first team. He is behind Chris Smalling and Phil Jones. Ashley Young is Jose Mourinho's ideal left-back. He was named in UEFA's Breakthrough XI for 2016. Renato Sanches has not performed well since his arrival on loan at Swansea City. Linde was signed to play a more expansive game than Smallings. If he doesn't show he can handle that responsibility, he will not start regularly. It is not the case that Smellings is a worse defender than Young. The latter is more reliable and reliable than Linderof.
