Wales vs Azerbaijan Betting Tips: Latest odds, team news, preview and predictions

Ryan Giggs' men have only won one of their three Euro 2020 qualifiers so far but our tipster is backing them in a low-scoring affair on Friday night

Wales will be aiming to get the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign back on track when they host Azerbaijan on Friday night.

Ryan Giggs’ side opened Group E with a win over Slovakia but have suffered defeats in Croatia and Hungary since then, leaving them three points off the pace.

Latest Odds

888Sport offer Wales at 1/4 (1.25) to take three points from the country currently bottom of the group, whilst it is a 24/5 (5.75) shot that the sides each take a point in Cardiff.

Azerbaijan have never won an away qualifier for the European Championship, losing 27 of their 31 such matches, and are 12/1 (13.0) to break that streak here.

Team News

Giggs has handed call-ups to the uncapped quartet of Joe Rodon, Joe Morrell, Dylan Levitt and Kieffer Moore, but Aaron Ramsey has withdrawn and Ashley Williams has not been selected.

Defenders Omar Buludov and Bahlul Mustafazade could make their international debuts for Azerbaijan.

Anything other than victory for Giggs’ men would be a huge shock on Friday night but it may not be as comfortable as Dragons fans would perhaps like it to be.

Indeed, Wales have not scored more than once in any of their last nine matches, including friendlies, whilst in European Championship qualifying they have managed just six strikes in their last eight fixtures.

Whilst Azerbaijan have notoriously struggled in competitive matches, they have conceded just six goals in their last four away European Championship qualifiers and their previous World Cup qualifying campaign saw them keep two clean sheets.

Predictions

Wales should certainly be able to come away from this game with three points but they may struggle to break down a relatively resolute defence, and the 17/10 (2.70) quote from 888Sport for a home win and under 2.5 goals looks like excellent value.

This would have paid out in the last three meetings between the sides, and can be backed by adding Wales to win as well as ‘Under 2.5 goals’ to the betslip, which will create a double. Then place your wager as normal.
