Kiera Pemberton broke a scoring record at the Quad A girls basketball provincial championships. She scored 48 points in the third-place game. Pereton has verbally committed to play at University of North Dakota after high school. She is proud of her team and especially of the seniors. They came third. The team is 15-14 overall, 9-9 in conference. It was 2-19 overall and 2.13 in Conference last season. Faye Zwarych’s 55 points for Vernon in 1980 remain the tournament's top scorer.

Walnut Grove Gators guard Kiera Pemberton broke a scoring record at the Quad A girls basketball championships. The No. 2 Seaquam Seahawks of North Delta beat the No 4 South Kamloops Titans 50-20 to win the junior girls title. Grade 8 forward Camryn Tait had eight points, six steals and five rebounds for the winners.

Langley Christian Lightning won the Double A provincial title. They beat the No. 2 Mulgrave Titans 70-60. Grade 12 guard Sydney Bradshaw was named tournament most valuable player. R.A. McMath Wildcats of Richmond beat MEI Eagles of Abbotsford to win the Triple A girls basketball championship. Marina Radocaj, a Grade 11 forward, had 20 points and 20 rebounds for the winners. Riverside Rapids will play the crosstown rival No. 3 Terry Fox Ravens later Saturday.
