Warriors vs. Hornets prediction and odds for NBA Summer League

Both the Charlotte Hornets and Golden State Warriors lost their opening games at the Sacramento Summer League, but one team will grab a win on Wednesday.

All eyes will be on No. 2 overall pick of the 2023 NBA Draft, Hornets' wing Brandon Miller, who will look to build on an 18-point debut on Monday. The wing will hope to bolster the Hornets' offense after scoring only 77 points in the opening loss to the San Antonio Spurs.

The Hornets will match up against the Warriors, who lost to the Sacramento Kings in the opening game of this Summer League circuit, 100-94.

Here are the odds and our best bet for Wednesday's matchup:

I expect the scoring to pick up in this game for the Hornets, who scored only 11 points in the first quarter, digging a 21-point hole in the process. Outside of the outlier quarter, the Hornets played at a perfectly fine level. Overall, the team will need to get the three-point shot going after shooting just 30% from deep in the opener.

Enter the Warriors, who want to play fast and are looking to shoot from beyond the arc, evident in Lester Quinones 5-of-8 3-point shooting display in the opening game loss. Golden State shot over 43% from long distance on a healthy 33 3-point attempts.

While the Hornets have the star power of Miller, I can't trust them after a concerning first quarter and not willing to lay points with them just yet.

The Warriors ball movement and frenetic pace could put the Hornets in danger again if the team doesn't round into form on offense, but given that there should be plenty of possessions, I'll side with the over.

PICK: OVER 172.5
