Washington Nationals vs San Francisco Giants Prediction 7-22-23 MLB Picks

The San Francisco Giants and the Washington Nationals meet Saturday in MLB action from Nationals Park. This will be the second installment in a three-game series. On Friday the Nationals held on to an early lead and posted a defense-oriented victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

San Francisco Giants

The Giants haven’t been the most productive team at the plate this week; they had just there runs total in the two games coming into this series. On Friday San Francisco had just five hits in a 5-3 loss. Joc Pederson (two-run homer) and JD Davis (solo homer) were the only offensive contributors of note during the sluggish defeat.

As starter for Saturday’s game it’ll be San Francisco’s Logan Webb. Over his 20 starts this year Webb is 8-7 with a 3.11 ERA and 134 Ks in 133.0 innings. Webb gave up two earned in 7.0 innings during a no-decision versus the Reds in his last start.

Washington Nationals

Over on the Nationals’ side, they’ve been coughing up a ton of runs lately. Washington had given up five or more runs in six straight games entering this series. On Friday CJ Abrams and Lane Thomas were in control at the plate, combining for four hits, three runs and a pair of solo homers.

It’ll be Josiah Gray in the start for the Nationals on Saturday. Across his 19 starts so far Gray is 6-8 with a 3.59 ERA and 94 strikeouts over 105.1 innings. Gray has lost his last two starts however, giving up seven earned in 10.0 frames.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’m staying with the Giants. Considering Webb is pitching quite well lately I think he’ll put San Francisco in a good position. Webb has gone at least 6.2 innings in each of his last three starts, giving up a combined four earned runs in a combined 22.2 innings. As for the offensive output, San Francisco needs a kick in the proverbial pants. The Giants have scored a combined six runs over the last three games, so I’d like to see a better effort at the plate in this one. The table should be set for success, though.
