Wayne Rooney’s son Kai, 13, follows in dad’s footsteps as he scores in Man Utd cup final win over fierce rivals City

KAI ROONEY showed he was a chip off the old block by netting against Man Utd's crosstown rivals Man City.

The eldest son of Red Devils legend Wayne Rooney was playing for in the U13 National Cup North final, when he showed why he was his father's son.

A 2-0 win with goals from 13-year-old Rooney and JJ Gabriel were enough to see off the Cityzens and set up a national final clash against Arsenal.

After the game, Kai posted pictures of his medal and the trophy on Instagram, alongside images with his team-mates celebrating the famous win.

Rooney captioned the snaps: "National Cup. 2-0 Win VS Man City', adding that it was a 'Great performance'.

In the noughties and 2010s, dad Wayne was famous for terrorising United's noisy neighbours.

His overhead kick winner that helped United pip City to the title in the 2010-2011 season is often voted as one of the Premier League's greatest ever goals.

Last year, the Daily Mail revealed that Kai Rooney broke the U12 goalscoring record at United - scoring 56 times and making 28 assists.

That included four against Liverpool, as he played in the same side with Cristiano Ronaldo Jr.

Dad Wayne is Man Utd's all-time top scorer with 253 goals in 559 games.

In 2013, Kai joined his father on the pitch for Man Utd's title celebrations.

That was the last time the Red Devils have won the Premier League.

Kai has also been juggling playing football with modelling.

Last year, he was spotted head-to-toe in Puma wear - appearing in an ad for the sports giants.
