We simulated Newcastle vs Tottenham to get a Premier League score prediction

Tottenham could face a huge blow to their top-four hopes if they fail to beat Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday.

A 95th-minute goal saw Spurs lose 3-2 at home to Bournemouth in the Premier League last weekend, with the Lilywhites winning just one of their last four games as their top-four chances took a hit. The result left Cristian Stellini's side three points behind Newcastle in fourth who hold a game in hand over Spurs, with this weekend's clash a real six-pointer.

Defeat would not only see Newcastle pull away from Spurs, but it could see Aston Villa go level on points and Brighton remain four points behind but with three games in hand. The last meeting between the two sides saw the Magpies win 2-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Harry Kane getting on the scoresheet.

So, could Spurs get back to winning ways when they face Newcastle on Sunday? Let's take a look.

Newcastle vs Spurs score predicted by simulation

To complete this simulation, we used FIFA 23 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that the hosts could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Pope; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Willock, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Almiron, Isak, Gordon.

We predict that Spurs could line up in a 3-4-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Lloris; Romero, Dier, Lenglet; Porro, Hojbjerg, Skipp, Perisic; Son, Kane, Danjuma.

After their late defeat against Bournemouth, spirits were low, and Spurs got off to the worst start possible as they fell 2-0 behind in the first 20 minutes. Alexander Isak struck both times with tap-ins from close range, but after half-time, Spurs were able to quickly pull a goal back and halve the deficit.

A short corner routine saw the ball work its way to Arnaut Danjuma on the edge of the box, and the Dutchman did well to cut past two defenders and surge towards goal. With the target in sight, the forward used the body of Kane to shield his shot, leaving Nick Pope unsighted as he curled his effort into the far corner of the goal.

Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison were both introduced after Danjuma's strike to try and tilt the game in Spurs' favour, and it worked, with momentum on their side as the Lilywhites created a ton of chances. Newcastle were struggling to escape their own half, and just seven minutes after the first goal, Spurs grabbed a second.

Oliver Skipp fizzed a pass into the feet of Harry Kane, and the striker did well to chip the ball over the Newcastle backline for Kulusevski to chase. The Swede pulled away from his marker before going one-on-one with Pope, and a composed finish saw Kulusevski drill the ball through the 'keeper's legs and into the net.

The pressure continued from Spurs, and just moments later they were able to grab a third goal to complete a tremendous 15-minute turnaround. As Newcastle passed the ball around defence under pressure from the Spurs forwards, Fabian Schar skewed his pass, sending it past his teammate and into the path of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The midfielder was able to latch onto the pass and burst through on goal, and his powerful strike wrong-footed Pope as he found the bottom corner. The hosts threw everything at Newcastle late on to try and salvage a point, but Stellini's side held on for a huge three points.

FIFA 23 predicted score: Newcastle 2-3 Spurs

FIFA 23 predicts that Spurs could produce a thrilling comeback to keep their top-four hope intact, beating Newcastle 3-2 in the simulation. Despite going two goals behind early on, Spurs showed lots of character to complete an epic comeback, with Arnaut Danjuma starring in the win.
