Wednesday MLB NRFI Odds, Expert Picks, Predictions: Back First-Inning Aces Zac Gallen and Brady Singer (August 24)

On Wednesday, we take our attention to Kauffman Stadium to find value in a NRFI between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Kansas City Royals.

The Royals will send out their young ace in Brady Singer. Coming into today Singer is 14-3 to the NRFI with an impressive 9-1 home NRFI split. Singer performs particularly well against teams’ lead-off hitters, only allowing a .180.

Singer has not faced another of these Diamondbacks hitters leaving the edge of unfamiliarity to his advantage.

The Diamondbacks’ projected No. 5 hitter today is Daulton Varsho. He has been struggling at the plate going just 2-for-19 in his last 21 at-bats. The Diamondbacks, are always a great NRFI choice as they NRFI 73% of the time, but today they are on the road where their chances to NRFI are even higher at 79%.

The Diamondbacks will counter with their ace in Zac Gallen. Coming into today Gallen is 19-4 to the NRFI with an also impressive 9-2 road NRFI split. Gallen’s NRFI success stems from his batting order splits. When facings teams No. 1 and No. 2 hitters he has dominated. Gallen has only allowed a .175 average to teams’ leadoff hitters and an even worse .164 to teams’ No. 2 hitters.

In the month of August, the Royals struggled in the first inning. As a team, they have gone 15-for-81 good for a .185 average and ranking them firmly at 26th in baseball. The Royals, like the Diamondbacks, NRFI at a high rate, they NRFI at home 74% of the time.
