Wednesday's horse racing tips at Ascot

Midweek racing fans are in for a treat this Wednesday, as three Royal Ascot trials take place. Group Three honours will be up for grabs in the Sagaro Stakes and the Commonwealth Cup Trial Stakes, with the Listed Paradise Stakes also feature on the card at Ascot.

Ascot Tips - Wednesday 3rd May

Race 3 - Sagaro Stakes Tips

Despite a surprise defeat at the hands of Rajinsky on his return in the Further Flight Stakes, Trueshan tops the betting and Alan King's three-time Long Distance Cup winner is sure to improve for that reappearance.

At the prices, I'd rather side with COLTRANE, who traded Grade Two victories with Trueshan back in the spring. Andrew Balding's six-year-old scored in the Ascot Stakes at Royal Ascot last season and he boasts winning form on ground softer than good. Coltrane could establish himself as a genuine Gold Cup contender on Wednesday.

Race 4 - Commonwealth Cup Trial Tips

Charlie Appleby's Breeders' Cup hero, Mischief Magic makes his return to action on Wednesday. I backed William Buick's mount that day and expect him to improve again during his three-year-old campaign. Softish ground and a tricky draw in stall one, however, puts me off on this occasion.

On the back of a power-packed debut victory at York, BRADSELL overcame a horror draw in stall two to win a fantastic renewal of the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot last season. Archie Watson put his colt away for the season following a rough race in the Phoenix Stakes, where Hollie Doyle's mount stumbled coming out of the stalls and struggled to get back into the race.

Bradsell returns to action with his lofty reputation intact and it'll be interesting to see how he progresses during the upcoming campaign.

Race 5 - Paradise Stakes Tips

With My Prospero now out of this contest, CHINDIT has been provided with an excellent opportunity to make a winning reappearance for a fourth season in a row.

Richard Hannon's won his first three starts as a juvenile, kicked off 2021 with victory in the Greenham Stakes and beat Tempus to score in the Doncaster Mile first time out last season. While he's never come close to winning at the highest level, Chindit is a two-time Grade Two winner, including a victory over Mutasaabeq in the Summer Mile here at Ascot last July. Back down in Listed company, Chindit can stamp his class on this contest.
