College football picks for Week 0: Get nearly $2,000 in college football betting promos

Top sportsbooks are launching generous offers for their college football betting promos ahead of the season. Here's the top college football picks for Week 0.

Notre Dame vs. Navy best bets: Notre Dame -20.5 (-110 or better)

Quarterback Sam Hartman, a Wake Forest transfer, will try to help the No. 13-ranked Irish improve on their 9-4 season. Hartman threw for nearly 8,000 yards the past two seasons at Wake and will bring passing skill to a team known for its running prowess.

Navy has a new coach for the first time since 2007. Brian Newberry replaced Ken Niumatalolo, who was fired in December. Navy relies on its running game — the Midshipmen were fourth in the country with 241 yards per game.

The game is in Dublin, Ireland, a neutral site on the map but not in Aviva Stadium. Expect a large, enthusiastic Notre Dame crowd. The game begins at 2:30 p.m. ET, on NBC.

USC vs. San Jose State picks: Over 64.5 total points (-110 or better)

Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams returns for sixth-ranked USC and is surrounded by quality at wide receiver and running back. Williams will try to become the first repeat Heisman winner since Ohio State running back Archie Griffin in 1974-75. Coach Lincoln Riley’s Trojans have realistic visions of earning a spot in the College Football Playoff.

San Jose State is coming off a 7-5 season. The Spartans are potent with Chevan Corderio playing his sixth season. The Hawaii transfer threw for 23 touchdowns and ran for nine more last season.

The game is at 8 p.m. ET, on the Pac-12 Network.

Week 0 college football best bets

  • Notre Dame -20.5 (-110 or better). Notre Dame leads the series, 81-13-1. Last year’s game was close – Notre Dame 35, Navy 32, in neutral-site Baltimore. Notre Dame was 7-6 against the spread last season; Navy was 7-5.
  • Notre Dame vs. Navy total points: 50.5 (-113 or better). Both teams have potent offenses, capable of putting points on the board. Over 50.5 points looks like a smart play.
  • USC -30.5 points spread (-110 or better). This is USC’s final season in the Pac-12 before it begins play in the Big Ten. The sixth-ranked USC Trojans are going to start this season of high expectations with a focused, all-out performance. USC was 8-6 ATS; San Jose State was 4-8.
  • USC-San Jose State over 64.5 points (-110 or better). Both teams will put the ball in the air and have experienced quarterbacks. Over 64.5 is a big number but it looks like the right play.
  • San Diego State -3 (-110 or better) vs. Ohio. Quarterback Jalen Mayden, a converted defensive back, should help the Aztecs cover against Ohio University.
