Week Five Predictions: Halfway through the season

Week Five of high school football season is here. It's the second week of conference/league games for local schools.

Cosumnes Oaks (1-4) at Davis (2-3) is a must-win game for both teams. The Wolfpack were beaten by Elk Grove last Friday and the Blue Devils by Franklin.

Jesuit is 4-0 and wants to win the league championship two years in a row. Pleasant Grove is 0-4 and lost to Jesuit 35-21 last Saturday.

Sheldon (3-2) and Franklin (1-4) are half-way through the season. Sheldon has lost two games in a row, both in the fourth quarter. Franklin picked up their first win of the year at Davis last week.

Florin (0-5) and Valley (3-0) are playing each other this week at Cosumnes River College. Neither team has won a game this season.

Laguna Creek (3-2) at River City (1-3) is a game to watch in the MPR Conference.

Kennedy is 0-5 and Monterey Trail is 3-2.

Rico Petrini, Del Oro High School football player who collapsed at practice from heat stroke on Sept. 6, was cleared to return to practice and school this week. Placer Union High school district updated its policy regarding outdoor activities in extreme heat.

Aaron Judge is having a great season with the New York Yankees. He is leading the American League with 60 home runs, a .316 batting average and 128 runs batted in.
