Week Four: Boise State at UTEP. Game Preview and Prediction

Boise State is 6-0 against UTEP and won last year's game 54-13. The closest margin of victory in the series was in 2000 Humanitarian Bowl. Boise State has prided itself on offensive creativity and exposing opponents' schemes. In recent years, the points-per-game stat has been declining. Tim Plough and Andy Avalos had a serious talk in offseason about the role of the offense. The next three weeks will be a good barometer of this philosophy.

George Holani ran for 110 yards on 24 carries last week. The offensive philosophy of the team needs to focus on the running game. UTEP is one of worst teams in the FBS in defending the run. Right guard Ben Dooley hasn't been announced for the Broncos in 2022.

Boise State is playing in week four and is looking to improve on their current record. They have lost several players to injury. UTEP is coming off a double-digit loss to New Mexico. DraftKings has the Broncos favored by 16 points. I expect the Bronco defense to clog up the lanes and prevent the Miners from getting into any rhythm. The secondary will force at least two interceptions. George Holani and Ashton Jeanty will find the endzone. Boise State will cover with relative ease and come back to Boise 3-1.
