West Coast Cruises to Victory at Travers Stakes

Mike Smith rode West Coast to victory at the Travers Stakes. It was Smith's second time riding the colt. The colts had beaten nice horses, but not the likes of the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stake winners. Triple Crown winners failed to deliver on their promise. The winner of this race, Always Dreaming, finished eighth in the Preaks, and the winner, Cloud Computing, came in eighth. This was Tapwrit's first race since he won the third leg of Triple Championship. He needed a race. Before the race Bob Baffert texted Smith to change his mind.
