Horse Racing: Joe Bravo wins the United Nations Stakes for the fourth time

Joe Bravo won the United Nations Stakes for the fourth time. Bigger Picture set a new course record for 1 3/8 miles. Beach Patrol and Itsinthepost were the favorites.  Bravo was able to gun through a hole on the inside with about 8/10 of a mile left. He surged inside of Beach patrol. The Chad Brown-trained Beach Patrol was the 7-5 favorite. Its inthe post was 5-2. Bravo is a 13-time Monmouth Park riding champion. It's one of two Grade I races at Monport Park. Another is the $1 million betfair.com Haskell Invitational.

Always Dreaming had his first workout since he finished eighth in the Preakness on May 20. He is training for the Jim Dandy at Saratoga on July 29 and the Haskell Invitational on June 30. Unbeaten Timeline, American Anthem and Cloud Computing worked on Saturday. West Coast worked five furlongs at Santa Anita on the day before. Baffert has won the race a record eight times. The horse trained by Pletcher, Tapwrit, has not had a workout. It is possible that the Travers Stakes could be his next start.

Convival, a 3-year-old colt trained by Alan Goldberg for the Colts Neck Stables, won the 8th race for maidens at odds of 12-1. He paid $27 to win.
