West Ham v Arsenal preview

Arsenal continued their good start to the Premier League season on the weekend as they swept aside a Sheffield United team rooted to the bottom of the table, winning 5-0 courtesy of an Eddie Nketiah hat trick.

The victory means Mikel Arteta's side have won three of their four matches since suffering their only loss of the season so far to Lens, in the Champions League, including beating last season's treble winners Manchester City.

The Gunners remain unbeaten in the Premier League this season, and head into Wednesday's cup match second in the table, just two points behind their North London rivals Tottenham who currently lead the league.

Arsenal booked their place in Wednesday's round four tie by winning another London derby in the previous round, when Reiss Nelson scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win at Brentford.

Wednesday night sees the Gunners make the trip to East London to take on a West Ham side who seem to have lost their early season confidence that saw them pick up 10 points out of a possible 12 to start the campaign.

Sunday's home defeat to Everton was their third in a row in all competitions, having lost in the week to Olympiacos in Greece following their 4-1 loss at Villa Park.

The slump in form has seen David Moyes' side drop down to ninth in the Premier League table, and only two points ahead of 14th placed Fulham.

The Hammers booked their spot in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup by beating League One side Lincoln, in which Tomas Soucek scored the only goal of the game midway through the second half.

West Ham have won only one of their last 16 matches against Arsenal in all competitions, with that sole win coming back in January 2019.

The Gunners have won six of the last eight meetings between the two sides without defeat, but their most recent match ended in a 2-2 draw at the London Stadium, a result which derailed the Gunners' title hopes.

Moyes has won only four of his 41 managerial meetings against Arsenal, and is yet to get the better of Arteta, losing five of the seven duels they've had.

West Ham v Arsenal betting tips

Arsenal are very much the form team heading into Wednesday night's clash and most will expect them to get the job done. Betfred are offering punters odds of 13/2 for the Gunners to win both halves of the match.
