What Bruins need to clinch Atlantic Division title after Tuesday’s win

BOSTON — The Bruins’ win over the Senators Tuesday coupled with Toronto’s loss to the Islanders assured the Bruins of finishing no worse than second in the Atlantic and moved them closer to clinching the division crown.

The third-place Tampa Bay Lightning can no longer catch Boston, which improved to 54-11-5 (113 points) in the standings. The most the second-place Maple Leafs (42-19-9, 93 points) can finish with is 117 points. Any five points either earned by the Bruins or not earned by Toronto would seal the division.
