Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea go in search of a return to winning ways when they travel to face Jesse Marsch’s unbeaten Leeds side at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon

Chelsea make the trip north to face Leeds United on Sunday as two teams with identical records from their first two games of the new Premier League campaign go head-to-head, looking to continue their unbeaten starts to the season.

The Blues followed up their opening day victory at Everton with a 2-2 draw against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge last weekend, despite taking the lead twice in that game and succumbing to a 96th minute equaliser from Harry Kane.

But they will be looking to make amends against a Leeds side who also won their opening day fixture against Wolves, before similarly dropping points from a winning position in their 2-2 stalemate at Southampton last time out.

When is Leeds vs Chelsea?

Leeds vs Chelsea will kick-off at 2pm on Sunday, August 21 at Elland Road.

The last meeting between these two sides came back in May, when the Blues ran out comfortable 3-0 winners against their hosts to maintain their position in third-place.

Mason Mount gave the visitors an early lead after just four minutes and it remained that way until the second half, with Christian Pulisic doubling the lead 10 minutes after the restart, before Romelu Lukaku rounded things off with just over five minutes to go.

Chelsea will be aiming for a return to winning ways after conceding an injury time equaliser against Spurs last weekend

Team news

Jesse Marsch’s side may be unbeaten after their first two games of the season but the American will be disappointed after letting a two goal lead slip to draw with Southampton last time out and could make changes for this game, although he has at least six injury concerns to deal with.

Patrick Bamford (groin) was removed for precautionary reasons against Southampton but remains a doubt for this weekend, along with Liam Cooper (Achilles) and Joe Gelhardt (thigh), while Junior Firpo, Luke Ayling (both knee) and Stuart Dallas (thigh) are ruled out.

As for Thomas Tuchel, he could opt to stick with a similar side to the one that drew with Spurs last weekend as they go in search of a return to winning ways, although he will serve his own suspension after picking up a red card in last week's London derby.

The Blues will be forced into at least one change after N’Golo Kante picked up a thigh injury in that game, while Mateo Kovacic (knee) is also ruled out. Marcos Alonso is expected to miss out as he finalises a move away, but Cesare Casadei could be involved after signing from Inter Milan on Thursday.
