The Breeders’ Cup World Championships is taking place at Keeneland. The event is being broadcast on NBC, USA Network, NBCSports.com and Peacock.
The Breeders’ Cup is horse racing”s last hurrah of the year. Horses from around the globe will compete in 14 races over two days. The first day of this year's event is called Future Stars Friday. Championship Saturday will give out more than $22 million in purse money over nine races, including the $6 million Classic.
The Breeders’ Cup runs from November 4-5. The post time for the Breeder's Cup Classic is tentatively set for 5:40 p.m. ET. Keeneland is hosting the event for third time in seven years.
The 2022 Breeders’ Cup is being broadcast on NBC Sports. The broadcast starts on Friday, November 4th at 2 p.m. ET on USA Network, NBCSports.com and the NBC Sport app. It resumes on Saturday, Nov 5th on the USA network, at 1 p.,m., and ends at 3 p,m, on Peacock.
Horses must be nominated to race in any Breeders’ Cup event. Stallions at stud pass their nomination down to their foals. The nomination costs as much as the stallion”s breeding fee. Foals can be nominated individually at $400 each. These funds contribute to the Breeder“s Cup purses and go back into the host track.
The Breeders’ Cup features a total of 14 races contested across two days the first weekend in November.
The $6 million Breeders’ Cup Classic is the marquee event of the weekend. It has a field of up to 14 horses that must be at least 3 years old. Last time the Classic was held at Keeneland, Bob Baffert”s Authentic won it by 2 1/4 lengths.
Flightline is the favorite to win the Breeders’ Cup Classic. Taiba, trained by Bob Baffert, is a potential threat to Flightline. Epicenter, Rich Strike and Hot Rod Charlie are also expected to be in the field. The race starts on November 4th at 2 p.m. ET. It will be broadcast on USA Network, NBC and Peacock.
The Breeders’ Cup takes place on Saturday at 3:30 pm Eastern. Amy Schumer hosts Saturday Night Live on NBC. The action continues on Sunday with the NASCAR Cup Series Championship at3 p.m. and the Titans vs. Chiefs at 7 p., all on the NBC and Peacock.
