When is the Champion Hurdle? Cheltenham date, time, runners, betting

The Champion Hurdle is the feature race on the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival 2024 – and our chance to witness equine freak Constitution Hill in full flight.

Nicky Henderson’s stable superstar routed Ireland’s leading hurdler State Man by 9l in last year’s renewal to continue his unbeaten career record and the pair are likely to face off once again in March.

A chasing career was mooted for Constitution Hill in a bid to emulate the legendary Dawn Run, but connections scrapped that idea and it looks likely that a record number of Champion Hurdle titles will be sought.

Other than State Man, quality challengers to the current champion are thin on the ground so a small field is likely to go to post.

Constitution Hill bagged more than £250,000 for connections by winning last season’s edition and a similar prize is up for grabs in this year’s scrap.

You can run the rule over our antepost Champion Hurdle odds on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise all the key details about next year’s renewal can be found below.

Champion Hurdle 2024 betting

Champion Hurdle odds are on paddypower.com and prices for the leading contenders can be seen on our snazzy widgets below.

Constitution Hill is the favourite with Paddy Power for the Champion Hurdle as last year’s winner is the penalty kick of the entire meeting.

State Man is next in our early betting after returning to action looking better than ever in the Morgiana and Matheson.

*Odds quoted on the widget are Future Racing / Antepost prices which means that if your selection does not run in the race for whatever reason – you will lose your stake under traditional Antepost rules
