When is UFC 295? Date, start time, odds, PPV schedule & card for Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic

Fight fans have been clamoring for Jon Jones to face Stipe Miocic, who was considered the heavyweight “G.O.A.T.,” for years. Their wishes have been granted, as the fight is finally happening at the famed Madison Square Garden, with Jones defending the UFC heavyweight title at UFC 295 on November 11.

A national wrestling champion, Jones turned pro in 2008 and joined the UFC after six fights. He held the UFC light heavyweight title at various points between 2011 and 2020, with his reign being disrupted due to legal issues and failed drug tests. “Bones” has remained unbeaten since 2010 and vacated the light heavyweight title in 2020. He attempted to fight then-UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou but negotiations with UFC CEO Dana White surrounding the purses for a potential fight came to nothing.

Jones didn’t compete for three years, returning in 2023 after Ngannou left the organization. In March, he faced Ciryl Gane for the UFC heavyweight title, stopping him in the opening round to become a two-division champion.

Now, the Rochester-born Jones headlines his first fight in The Garden and looks to erase any doubts about his supremacy by defeating Miocic.

“I feel like when you get to a place when you don’t feel anything is probably when it’s time to hang it up and try something different,” Jones said on the OverDogs podcast via MMA Fighting. “At this point, I still get really nervous, man. I have nightmares about my opponents. About every hour, Stipe Miocic will cross my mind. He will cross my mind. I could be having a drink, you name it, he crosses my mind. I could be at my kid’s volleyball game, and I thinking about Stipe. There’s a lot of mental that goes into it that I don’t think people realize. But the goal is to just conquer that.”

Miocic, a firefighter when he isn’t in a cage, is a former Golden Gloves boxing champion. An NCAA Division I wrestler, Miocic turned pro in 2010 and joined the UFC in 2011. He won the UFC heavyweight title in 2016 and defended it four times, holding the record for the most successful title defenses in the division. He traded wins and losses with Daniel Cormier for the belt from 2018 to 2020. Miocic last fought in March 2021, losing the belt to Ngannou. At 41, he doesn’t have much else to prove, but Miocic didn't need much convincing to accept this fight.

“There’s a lot of reasons,” Miocic told MMA Junkie Radio via MMA Junkie. “One, I want to fight the best. I’m a competitor. I love to compete, and I love fighting. I’m still having fun. Two, my last fight didn’t go as well as I wanted it to. I’m ready to bounce back and get that win.”

The co-main event sees Jiri Prochazka vs. Alex Pereira for the UFC light heavyweight title. Prochazka won the belt in 2022 but relinquished it due to injury. Pereira is a former middleweight champion who moves up in weight. Jamahal Hall was the champion in this division before rupturing his Achilles tendon.
