Williams announce Mercedes' chief strategist James Vowles as new team principal
James Vowles will become team principal at Williams. He will take over the reins from Jost Capito, who is leaving at the end of 2022. VOWles started his F1 career as an engineer at British American Racing and Honda Racing. In 2009 he helped Brawn GP win the 2009 Drivers' and Constructors' titles. After 20 years of working for Mercedes, he will leave them on good terms. Pre-season testing takes place in Bahrain from February 20-23. The season-opener takes places at Bahrain on the same weekend.
Williams announce Mercedes' chief strategist James Vowles as new team principal. Vows will take over from Toto Wolff, who worked with VOWles since 2013. Williams finished at the bottom of the standings last season. Williams finished with only eight points. It was the fourth time in five years that Williams have finished behind the leaders. Wolff is happy for Vowed to take the job. He has worked at Mercedes since he joined the team in 2013 and has been their strategy director since mid-2011.
