World Cup Group G Odds, Predictions, and Best Bet

Brazil haven't won a World Cup since 2002. Brazil, Switzerland, and Serbia are once again grouped together in Group G. Cameroon joins the party in one of the tournament's more competitive pods.

Brazil is ranked No. 1 in the FIFA rankings. Tite's formation allows Neymar a lot of freedom in a roaming number 10 role. The attacking group they take to Qatar is a who's-who of top talent. Brazil have lost just once in their last 29 matches. They scored 40 goals in 17 qualifying matches and are lethal going forward. Dani Alves is returning to the World Cup despite being a few months shy of 40.

Neymar is the player to watch if Brazil are to lift their sixth World Cup trophy. He was involved in nearly half of Brazil’s 40 goals in qualification. Neymar needs three more goals to pass Pele for most all-time for the Brazilian national team.

Switzerland and Sweden are both favorites to advance to the knockout rounds of the World Cup. Switzerland's defense is one of best in the tournament. Sweden's team is also very good. Their advancement chances will come down to a tense match against Serbia.  Sweden won the last World cup in 2010. Serbia won in 2006. The team's players celebrated their victory by performing an Albanian nationalist symbol.

Jann Sommer was the hero of Euro 2020 for the Swiss. He denied Kylian Mbappe a late penalty to eliminate France in the Round of 16. Sommers has stopped five straight penalty kicks during regulation for his national team.

Serbia are the team that Switzerland faced four years ago. Aleksandar Mitrovic is the all-time leading scorer for Serbia. Serbia have lost just three of their 20 matches under Dragan Stojkovic. They have an established trio of center-backs and conceded just nine goals in their eight qualifiers. Their lack of depth could be an issue with so many matches in a short amount of time. Brazil and Switzerland are favourites to win the group. Serbia will deem anything short of advancing from the Group G as a failure.

Aleksandar Mitrovic is a player to watch in this World Cup. He has scored 14 goals for Serbia in his last 13 competitive matches.

Cameroon are playing in the Africa Cup of Nations. They reached the semifinals of the previous tournament. Cameroon qualified for the World Cup after missing the 2018 tournament, but they haven't won a game since the 2002 World cup. Vincent Aboubakar will lead the line for Cameroon. Andre Onana will play in goal for them. Cameroon lost two and drew one of their last three matches.

Bryan Mbeumo is coming into the tournament on solid form. He switched his registration to Cameroon in August after a meeting with Samuel Eto’o.

Brazil is favourite to win their group and reach the World Cup semifinals. They could face Argentina in the semifinals if they win the group. If Portugal wins their Group G as expected, Brazil would face Uruguay in Round of 16. Brazil could also face Belgium in quarterfinals.
