World Series 2022: Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Astros face off for place in MLB history
The Houston Astros are the overwhelming favorite for the 2022 World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies. The Astros won the American League Championship Series and are undefeated in the playoffs. However, the previous two teams to win the Division Series or Conference Championships have gone on to lose the World series. Houston's only previous World Championship came in 2017, but it was marred by controversy. The team forfeited its regular first- and second-round picks in 2020 and 2021 drafts and paid a $5 million fine. It also lost the next two World Championships to the Washington Nationals in 2019 and the Atlanta Braves in 2021.
Ticket sales for the World Series have increased more than 145% since Monday on StubHub. The cheapest ticket for Game 1 in Houston is $435 and the most expensive is $16,597. For Game 3 in Philadelphia, the cheapest is only $560 and most is £48,345.
The World Series will air on FOX in the United States and on digital streaming services such as DIRECTV STREAM, fuboTV, Hulu+ and YouTube TV. In Canada, the World series will be shown on Sportsnet. It will also be available in UK on BT Sport and in Australia on Foxtel and ESPN.
